Senior Portraits!

I've been shooting quite a few High School Senior portraits over the past couple of months. I actually think seniors may be my favorite. They seem to be the most laid back, spontaneous sessions that I do. Most of the time we're not even sure where we're going to go until we're in the car! I've had some awsome sessions so far and I'm sure we'll do many more as we get into the winter and spring. As I edit, I'll be posting them up.

That's it, I'm starting anew!

So I have felt so badly about keeping up with my blog. Every time I shoot a new event or session, I think about posting, but feel badly becuase I haven't posted something previous to them. Well I think that is stopping today. Even though it is not quite the new year, it's a good resolution, and I still feel very badly about the posts of things I have missed, but I feel like I have to start somewhere or I'll never catch up!

For those of you still looking for images from weddings and those kinds of things, don't worry. I will still be posting up material from this fall and the past few months and sharing stories. I'm just not going to fake that somehow you won't notice that it's all the wrong dates and try to keep it in order!
So with that! I wanted to talk about the past week! This studio has seen so many smiling faces last week! I was contacted by Kim, a memeber of Christ Community Church, about helping out with a fundraiser for their children's ministry. Well every 15 minutes we had a new family in the door to shoot their mini sessions and wow, what a fun 2 days we had! It gave me great motivation to get the studio clean and ready for the holidays and so suddenly I am in the mood for Christmas!

Crystal and I will be sorting through all the sessions and orders over the next week and I'm excited to actually see all the pictures! Each group got to sit immediately with Crystal and see their images and I haven't hardly seen ANY of them yet! (I kept peeking over Crystal's shoulder to get a glimpse of how they were turning out.) It was so wonderful to meet everyone and I hope that all the kids and families had a wonderful time. Here's a few images I grabbed from the shoot. I should have turned around and taken pictures of all the people that were here! :)We had a lot of goofy faces, laughter and cute moments in those quick little sessions! It was really great and I hope we can do something like it again.

Christmas Deadline

I wanted to let everyone know that we have set our deadline for Christmas orders. To guarantee prints for Christmas, all orders need to be placed to me by Sunday, December 9th. So! If you have anything from your session this year to give as gifts, let me know! If you'd like a print as a gift for Grandma, maybe a photo ornament to commemorate your Baby's First Christmas, or maybe custom holiday cards, then let me know as soon as possible so I can make sure to get it to you on time. Man, it will be the New Year before we know it!

Natalie & Brian- August 25th Wedding

Natalie & Brian were one of my favorite couples this summer. They hosted their celebration at the beautiful and historic, Redstone Inn. Everyone was just so laid back and focused on enjoying the day! I'm not sure if any other bride could have handled wedding day issues with as much grace and ease as Natalie. Now with that said, this story is simply a warning to other brides!: The makeup artist accidentally got eyelash glue in Natalie's eyes about 25 or 30 mins before the ceremony! The poor girl! She had to start all over with her makeup and wait long enough to for her eye to stop watering to point that it wouldn't ruin all of her new makeup. Most people would have thrown in the towel at that point- heck, it's a good thing she didn't have to go to the hospital! She got into her dress so quickly, she didn't even get a chance to glance in the mirror to see herself before she had to walk down the aisle. Despite a few other mishaps, she pulled everyone together for a group hug and was determined to not let it ruin her day. And even with all of that, she still looked like a goddess.Natalie & Brian are such a great couple. Their laughter and love just filled up the room and I am so honored to have had the opportunity to share in their day. I wish you nothing but the best in all the day to day adventures you will face over the years together.

Whoever said change is good?!

We really have had a rough summer as far as editing goes! I have to again thank all my customers for being so understanding during this time of change. We recently changed our workflow to an entirely new system and I'd be lying if I said it's been an easy change for us. I am very happy with the results, but it has created a huge learning curve for me. (Something that I have not had to deal with since photography school!) I really do believe the new system will benefit our clients, so again, thank you for all your understanding as we dredge through our new systems. Hopefully we are getting all this dialed in now and things should be moving much quicker now.

Deana & Rolf- August 12th Wedding

Deana and Rolf were married at the beautiful Flying Dog Ranch in Carbondale. I've been waiting to shoot a wedding at this location! They have a beautiful pond and garden and of course great views of Mt. Sopris. The weather was hot, but nice all day, and we even had the pleasure of taking some pictures at Sunset.
Not to mention the fact that I really love Rolf & Deana. They are such amazing and wonderful people, and I just can't get over how happy I am for them. Rolf was one of the very first people I met when I moved to this valley! At the time, he was the director of catering at my college and was one of the first friendly faces I came to recognize! I always wondered when some lucky woman would snatch up Rolf and then there was Deana! Hurricane Katrina up-rooted her family and brought them here... and frankly the valley is brighter for it. :) I love you guys and wish you all the best in your journey together. So now that we are seriously past their wedding, I'm going to post up a couple of images! The entire wedding will hopefully be posted in a matter of days so stay tuned for many more images.

Haley & Frank Bassetti- August 4th

Haley & Frank came a long way to get married! Actually, Haley grew up in the area and the two of them came down from Alaska where they currently live to celebrate their union with friends and family. What a fun couple! These two are a great balance for one another. Their love is evident in so many ways and we had a great time getting to know them. My assistant from last summer, Nikki, came up from Silverthorne to join me for this one. Crystal (my current employee) was busy at a bridal shower preparing for her own wedding, so it was a lot of fun to work with Nikki again. (I forgot how much we laugh and enjoy each other at weddings! Crystal and I do the same thing, but they are absolutely two completely different people, so the experience is nothing alike! HA! I love them both!)Haley and Frank had their evening's events at Rifle Creek Golf Course. The weather was wonderful and made for a great setting for pictures! I've posted a few hoping to give everyone a taste since we are so backed up these days. What happened to the summer anyway?!?! Oh right, we've spent it in front of our computer... ;) ! We have a plan to get back on track, so hopefully it won't be too long before we can catch up again. Hope everyone is doing well and check back in a few weeks for the link to all the final images!
